Project Coffee

With small hopes we are launching Project Coffee. Under this project we strive to gather contact information of and gauze interest level of like minded individuals and organizations. The first thing we make clear is that we are fiercely against the Reservation Policy in all its forms. This is the immediate cause for which we rise. However, our basic paradigm is that it is nearly futile to fight deep rooted corruption, caste policies, religious inflammations and the other rot prevalent in the Indian political system. We believe that we can best induce development activities, make India forward looking, clean and supremely powerful by bringing the young and educated of India into active politics. And perhaps that is the only way. Will this happen or when we dont know!

In the current scenario we will keep on shouting, forwarding emails, chatting in closets, demonstrating, protesting, writing speeches, filing Public Interest Litigations, appealing or as is mostly – busy with our individual lives. Many of us do have the intention to establish a new political order. Let us start gathering in howsoever small units and interconnect. Let us evolve our political manifesto and strategy collaboratively. Let us equip ourselves with enough knowledge and understanding of India's political system, public administration, judicial system, economy and industry, social, demographic scenario and make an educated, well-planned, well-funded and well-intended bid to govern the country. No such debate as on reservation policy will even arise if the educated, intellectual and young in spirit held reins of the county.

Maybe we don't realize but this easily qualifies to be the primary purpose of the generation we are. This is our country, our destiny.

How do we go about it?

There are a large number of people in our country privileged with education. Most of us have easy access to the Internet too. It is not very difficult to reach out to them. Shall they be willing (we believe they are) it will be a matter of time when every well meaning educated individual is under one umbrella. There are thousands of small semi political, organizations, NGOs, women & child welfare bodies, social movements, anti-reservation forums, environmentalists, wildlife enthusiasts, bodies for special people, ideological political outfits, youth groups, student unions, individuals, intellectuals, personalities, writers, painters, theater groups, entrepreneurs and the like who already are working for the general good since past so many years in one manner or the other.

We envisage a combined front where everyone is still doing their own thing but in a concerted, mutually constructive manner, towards the end of spreading and spreading the message to the remotest of voters to vote for the grand change.

Our vision might fall flat on its face for so many reasons or whimper out when the reservation issue dies. But we are not afraid. We feel that it is due on our part and hereby extend our hand to individuals/groups who can bear the pain of extracting a noxious splinter from their flesh.

There may or may not be speeches on this page. But reports of action will certainly be here.

What you can do now?

We will only be in enlistment and thought promotion mode for for a few days. One can express solidarity by leaving with us your name and some minimum contact information. Help us in any way you can think of that will make us heard and fetch us more enlistments. We want to interact with you at an individual level also to foster a closely knit community.

I just want to say that if we talk of bringing everyone on common platform kindly do not crticize anyone not even lok paritran. Everyone in their own way is making their contributions lets applaud that or it will be one against other and nothing achieved. If you post a thread quoting phone conversation they will do the same when you form your party and no one would achieve what we set out to achieve-India's development.

Gr8 to know that there r groups who r against all reservations... think about a reverted one: reservation for upper castes :P would server the lower castes better than current one... saurabhaditya@yahoo.com

I am glad to hear it! As far as paritran goes well I think their aim currently is to be elected so that they can start some work. On one hand are organizations like BM who strive to do it through social change first and on the other is paritran which wants to do it by getting political power first. Both are equally good strategies I think...different ways of achieveing the same thing!

Jaya (and those who havent heard from me on email) please send me ur mail id. We are missing you from the loop.

Project Coffee is open, relatively new and structureless as opposed to other initiatves/organizations. The problem is that everyone is thinking that their way is THE way.

We are facing severe bottlenecks in getting the 'big brothers' together for cooperation! Only if I could reveal more of the e-mail discussions and telecons I have been having all around...but still, things are improving (I hope)

We all know that reservation is vote bank politics so one of the action plan for 5 years to abolish reservation could be:
1) Consolidate efforts try to bring in people who are getting reservations but think differently in the loop- women,SC/ST, OBCs etc etc.
2) Form a platform or talk to already existing communities like BM, Paritran, other social network to create a plan wherein the lower strata of society(i.e. economically disadvantaged) are advised to demand water, food, electricity from their elected reps instead of more quota seats.
3) When the time for election comes anywhere in any state and in any constituency stage a mass boycott of elections till reservations are removed.
4) For part (3) to be effective part (1) and(2) are required because you need to be big to have any effect.

I guess we need more help with doing #3 right away. Going is tough...

My email id is dixit_jaya@yahoo.co.in

And Anurag I just know what you mean. I have become a member of BM and was earlier impatient and frustrated I wanted things to be done fast but one thing I have learnt is- have patience and keep working. I am active in what they do so I seriously dont have a right to say BM or paritran is right or wrong and even if i do work in future I should keep doing my bit. But I can understand your point and the only thing i can say is have patience and faith and keep working:)

Well that was i am 'not' active in what they do :) A typo in the worst place!

Alrite this is another of action plans and well not those 5 year ones but a current strategy:
1)Mass protest, nation wide including every college, every university, every school.
2) Women, OBCs, SC/STs should be part too.
3)Slogan should be- We will not vote for the party which gives reservation.
4)Emphasis on and tht should be said in rallies too-"Everyone should vote all people who can cast their vote should make it a must that they vote but not for the party which has given reservations right now"
5)When political parties see that some party lost their seats of power due to their reservation policy there are going to be some changes!

Hey Jaya

Wait till we make the discussion forum...and then will discuss in detail.

And I expressed a fact that going is tough (as foreseen) but no body is loosing hope, patience or belief.

Hi,
Myself, Abhishek Goel, into VLSI design.
I appreciate the step you have taken to push forward the cause of MERIT. You can contact me at gabhishek_ti@yahoo.co.in

Just wanted to add another angle to whole debate:
Why should we (the so called upper caste) pay various taxes, viz. income tax, sales/service/cess etc. and what not, to such a government and nation which is hell-bent on making our and next generation's life a nightmare by creating all these quota system.

All these politians don't have solutions to any of the real issues that country is facing today. They just want to add votes to their account by using this qouta politics.
If the govt is really serious about upliftment of OBC/SC/ST, then give them free/subsidised basic education + coaching etc. But when it comes to competition ony the best men should get thru.
There is no end to quota -- first in education institutes in graduation then in post-graduation and then in jobs... Why??

Regards,
Abhishek

i am intrested to jion this movement , together we can and we will make a difference. tel me how can i spread awareness for this?

Hi, this is admirable stuff! Keep it going, and take care during your liquid diet to ensure all your nutrient needs are met.
Am with the movement...

interesting Stuff. Havent read all that stuff thats written on top, but will support anything thats against this eccentric quota regime..!! It's already implemented at State level in Maharastra..!!

Illiteracy is actually perpetuated by failure of governance. Illiterate population is the cause of failure of governance. It is really pathetic that people have failed to realize that politicians are exploiting their weakness. Also one should never relinquish their self-esteem, if they(the politicians) are going to pass this reservation bill then they(the people who are going to enjoy the benefits) do not require any other certification to substantiate that they are substandard to others. Only way to eradicate this, is by providing education to them, for everyone knows the very basic thing that "people can only be trained and they can never be tamed". So the only solution is provide education to everyone, make it a mandatory thing and then award the potential candidates(who has loads of talents) with scholarship, but only for those who are economically backward(impoverished). And then, let them decide at their freewill whether they have any reservations towards reservation.

My contribution: Just to keep it short n simple - I shall filter out all 'quota' people in campus selection process .. whenever possible!

Oh yeah, just forgot to introduce myself. I am presently managing a campus channel of global sourcing division (of a NYSE listed major IT co. in India).

Have done it twice already!!

hey guys,
i donno wat u gonna think of me lately but i jst think these protests and hunger strikes not gonna take us anywhere.
As released today all the political parties are in the favour of the new reservation bill.
Now they are saying of giving us means the General Category more seats.
but i wanna ask u guys DO WE WANT JST MORE SEAT???
the answer is NO straight NO
and even if we compromise on it there is no chance of increasing seats for the General Category.
We need to do something more
more means more than protests
we need to do soon or else it will be too late if the bill is passed
ALL THE POLITICAL PARTIES ARE IN FAVOUR TO THE BILL AS THEY GOT THE GOVERNMENT TO BE SAFE AS THEY GET MINORITY VOTES FROM THE BENIFITERS.

I M READY TO GO THROUGH ANY SHIT FOR MY VOICE TO GET HEARD
HOPE U GUYS TOO WANNA HELP IN IT

hi...guys am with you...will support as much as i can...reservation at this high academic and professional level is just gonna let us nd our country down...

A young couple on the brink of divorce visit a marriage counsellor. The counsellor asks the wife what is the problem.
She responds "My husband suffers from premature ejaculation."
The counsellor turns to her husband and inquires "Is that true?"
