Dear friend,
It has been 59 years since India has won it's freedom. Hundreds & thousands of people sacrificed their lives, in the freedom struggle without division of caste or religion. Ever thought that Gandhiji was a baniya or Nehruji was a brahmin? Now our HRD Ministry has plans to reserve half the seats in higher education on the basis of caste !! We must come together and fight against this retrograde and divisive policy.


Why we oppose reservation?
1) It is going to kill meritocracy, and hence destroy India's image as a technology hub.
2) It is dividing India into caste lines which our freedom fighters and social reformers fought so hard to eliminate.
3) It is against the fundamental right to equality as safeguarded by the Constitution of India.
4) The benefits of reservation have been denied to really deserving people by the rich and powerful in their own classes.
5) Reservation is just a populist measure used by politicians for electoral gains.


About the Protest:
14th May 2006 (Sunday), starts at 10 AM, ends at 12 noon
Peaceful march with banners/placards/slogans with police protection
Origin: Bangalore Medical College (near K R Market)
Destination: Raj Bhawan
Concludes with a meeting with the Governor of Karnataka
Participants: Working people in Bangalore, medical and engineering students (expected strength: 1000+)
This protest is a follow-up of our April 29th protest in Bangalore and is a part of the ongoing nation wide protest campaign.

but wherever is the protest one thing has to be kept in mind that keep thm peaceful. At this kinda protests always some anti-social elements do come for for their own gain and real purpose of protest vaishes away.
